Black Lantern Inn
Virginia Green is the Commonwealth of Virginia’s campaign to promote environmentally-friendly practices in all aspects of Virginia’s tourism industry. Virginia Green has established "core activities" specific to each sector of tourism, and these practices are considered the required minimum for participation in the program. However, Virginia Green encourages its participants to reduce their environmental impacts in all aspects of their operations, and this profile provides a full list of all their “green” activities. These are the activities that guests / customers can expect to find when they visit this facility.
Black Lantern Inn

The Innkeepers respect and appreciate the natural wonders provided by Mother Earth. Dedication to leaving the smallest footprint within our control and to leaving things better than we found them. Our reason for joining Virginia Green is two-fold ~ one we have been eco-friendly since our inception and appreciate the acknowledgement, secondly we would like for the environmentally sensitive traveler to be aware of this great option for green lodging in a B&B in Roanoke, Va.
Support local businesses, farmers and wineries. Buy organic food when possible and purchase building supplies from locally established stores. Outside we provide food resources, water, nesting and perching habitat for resident and migrating birds.
