Historical Significance
Her family owned and operated Ingles Ferry on the New River, known today as the Ingles Family Farmstead. She was captured by the Shawnee Indians at the Draper's Meadow's Massacre in 1755 and taken to Big Bone Lick, Kentucky. From there she escaped and traveled 850 miles home to the New River Valley.
