Historical Significance

Kilgore Fort House was built in 1786 Rev. Robert Kilgore, son-in-law of Patrick Porter who built Porter's fort on Fall Creek. It was dismantled and reconstructed by Scott County in 1973 and is the only one of the original Scott County forts still standing. There is no record of it having been attacked by Indians.
