Historical Significance
Orkney Springs, a historic resort, is noted
for its medicinal waters. City residents,
escaping the heat of summer, came from
miles for its treatment. Also, grand tournaments
were frequently held there. Since
the 1920s, it has also been home to a
respite of a different sort – Shrine Mont, a
conference center of the Episcopal Diocese
of Virginia.
Orkney Springs Today
The Virginia House (formerly known as The Orkney Springs Hotel) at the Shrine Mont Conference Center in Orkney Springs, Virginia, in beautiful Shenandoah Valley. This turn-of-the-century hotel is the site of the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival, now in its third decade of performances.
