Historical Significance
The Massanutten Motor Mountaineering Tour begins in
the foothills of Massanutten Mountains at New Market
and winds through a portion of the Lee Ranger Forestry
District. The 190,000-acre district is part of the George
Washington National Forest. Spend an hour or a week
exploring the area steeped in history and filled with
remnants of the bygone Colonial, Civil War and Civilian
Conservation Corps periods.
