Historical Significance
Judge Archibald Stuart, a close friend of Thomas Jefferson, built this house in 1791. It continues as a private residence occupied by Stuart's descendants. One of the nation's earliest Classical-style residences, the side yard features an even earlier house built in 1785. The Chinese Chippendale gates are an original feature.
