Historical Significance
Opequon is the oldest Presbyterian congregation west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Organized in 1732, it has held continuous worship services since its founding and is commonly referred to as the Mother Church of the Valley. In the churchyard is the oldest marked grave site in the Shenandoah Valley *(Wilson, 1742.)
