Fredericksburg's Fall Haunts

This fall, put on your windbreaker and bring your explorer's hat to spend some colorful, fun-filled days in the Fredericksburg Region of Virginia. Known for its history and charming downtown, the region also has a lot to offer in the way of unique, one-of-a kind experiences that will relax and entertain you and your entire family. Perfect for an October adventure, this itinerary has a little something special for everyone in your party - a multi-generational trick-or-treat!

Day 1:

After arriving in town, relax and unwind with dinner at one of our fantastic chef-owned restaurants in Downtown Fredericksburg, and stick around for an Old Towne Carriage Ghost Tour of Fredericsksburg. Ghost Tours run Thursday-Saturday, July through the end of October. Learn about the folklore of Fredericksburg including the Woman in White, the Ghost of Chatham and even the Ghost of Fielding Lewis, George Washington's brother in law. This tour is appropriate for all ages, so bring the entire family to search for those who still walk to streets after death!

Day 2:

Wake up from a refreshing night's sleep at the Hampton Inn and Suites, or Country Inn & Suites where multi-room accommodations provide a home-like atmosphere perfect for large families or different sleeping schedules. Then plan your day's adventures at the Fredericksburg Battlefield and National Cemetery, the Confederate Cemetery, St. Georges Church and the Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop for a dose of graveside folklore and colonial medicine, complete with live leaches! After lunch at Virginia Barbeque, do the "Itty Bitty Belmont" scavenger hunt on the nature trails at Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont and have dinner at Amy's Café in historic Falmouth. If you feel up to it, drive up the road for a tasting and wine pairing at the Potomac Point Winery.

Day 3:

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel or hit the road early to stop somewhere along the way as you head to Belvedere Plantation for their fall fun. Pick your own pumpkins, take a hay-ride, visit the petting zoo, cheer at the pig races or get lost in their Maize Maze - it's quintessentially fall and a perfect Halloween-time adventure!
