Annual First Day Hikes

Virginia State Parks will offer hikes for the Annual First Day Hikes sponsored by America's State Parks.
Find Your Park and Pick Your Hike.
There will be no scheduled guided hikes, but feel free to create your own First Day Hike experience on any of our trails. In addition to the general maps on our website, more detailed maps are available on our Virginia State Parks app and can be cached in advance to use them even when you don't have a cell signal.
Please participate in our New Year Challenge and Photo Contest.
Complete a hike before midnight on Jan 1 to be eligible to participate. Sign up by Dec 31 to be eligible by visiting our site.
Please take a photo on Jan. 1 at one of our Virginia State Parks and upload the photo to the contest site before 11:59 p.m. ET on Jan. 1.
Please bring a mask as they are required in all indoor facilities and where 6 feet of social distancing is not possible.
