'Tis The Season! Some of our brightest starts of the 2019 summer season will be back in the friendly confines of Francis Auditorium on the Mary Baldwin University campus for our annual Heifetz Holiday Homecoming.
Our all-star cast of Heifetz alumni includes prize-winning artists Angela Chan, Julia Angelov, and Kayleigh Kim, vioiin; Matthew Cohen, viola; Andres Sanchez, cello; and pianist Zhenni Li.
The concert will feature season favorites, dazzling solo works, chamber music masterworks, and some special Yuletide delights. Selections will include Vivaldi's sublime "Christmas" Violin Concerto, Tchaikovsky's captivating Rococo Variations, the Sinfonia from J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio, and the magificent Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major by Antonín Dvořák. Heifetz performances are invariably among the most talked-about concert events on the Kreeger calendar, and you won't want to miss the dazzling virtuosity and poignant passion of these young Heifetz performers. Hallelujah!
Tickets are $28 general admission; $15 for students, and $10 for MBU students with valid ID. Free admission for children under 13 accompanied by an adult.
All proceeds will benefit the Heifetz Institutes's Shenandoah Scholarship Campaign, with a goal of raising $300,000 in scholarship support for students to attend the 2020 Heifetz International Music Institute, taking place at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA from June 25 to Aug. 9, 2020.
