NOTICE: The High Bridge at High Bridge Trail State Park is scheduled to close for three months beginning Jan. 18. A preventative maintenance project will replace all of the bridge’s decking. During this time, the trail will be closed from Camp Paradise to River Road. The parking areas will remain open but access toward the bridge will be closed.
High Bridge Trail State Park is a multi-use trail ideally suited for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. Its centerpiece is the majestic High Bridge, which is more than 2,400 feet long and 160 feet above the Appomattox River. The majestic bridge was built in 1853 as part of the South Side Railroad.
