Appalachian Arts Center, a part of Southwest Virginia Community College, is a 4000 square foot gallery, market place and educational resource. The center is divided into seven small gallery spaces devoted exclusively to the exhibition and sale of work created by local crafts people, artists, student apprentices, authors and musicians; while a large rotating exhibition space showcases regional artisans. A variety of educational demonstrations, artist talk, professional development workshops and craft courses are offered.
The market place includes: baskets, pottery, quilts, woodworking, jewelry, photography, print making, drawing, painting, fiber art, glass, metal, mixed media honey, jams and more.
The center is located along Route 19 in the "Old Archie Helton General Store".
