Historic Rice's Hotel / Hughlett's Tavern sponsors the Heathsville Farmers Market every 3rd Saturday of the month from April to October. Local produce, eggs & oysters, crafts, plants, baked goods and more.
Each market has a theme. At the season-opening market in April, there will be an Earth Day Festival; Wine, Brew & Spirits Tasting Fest, and Quilt Sale. The tasting fest lasts until 4 p.m.
May's market will be "Going to the Dogs", when the Northern Neck Kennel Club holds a "doggie" exposition. In June, there will be a "First Responders Motorcycle Rally."
July is "Kids Day" and includes a scavenger hunt and other fun activities. At the August market, enjoy an Antique and Classic Car show, and the Tavern Quilt Guild will run their "Bingo for Quilts" event.
In September, a "Living History" Day will take place with historically-costumed groups and an historical flag display. At the final market in October, there will be a pumpkin decorating contest and a "blessing of the animals."
The Tavern Café and "Heritage Arts Center" Gift Shoppe will also be open. Special on Market day -- fresh-fried donuts.
Make it a Heathsville Saturday. Elsewhere in the community, there are interesting shops, attractions, eats and historical sites.
