Next time you visit Arlington, bring your four-legged friend along! Arlington's dog parks and dog-friendly businesses await your arrival.
Start at Walter Reed Park dog exercise area, located at 2909 16th St. S. Arlington in the historic African-American Nauck neighborhood.
When you've worn out your pup, pack up your things and go to Shirlington for lunch. This urban village is known for its pet-friendly atmosphere, and dogs are welcome to dine alongside their owners just outside of the patios of most Shirlington establishments. After lunch, stop by Dogma bakery and boutique (2772 S. Arlington Mill Dr.) for a sweet treat and a little shopping.
Walk off your lunch by going to Long Bridge Park to enjoy their elevated nature walk with your pooch. Long Bridge is one of Arlington's newest public parks and provides an excellent vantage point to see the Washington, D.C. skyline as well as planes traveling to and from Ronald Reagan International airport. For a longer walk, continue onto the Mt. Vernon Trail.
Head to Clarendon next for some shopping at Wylie Wagg (2509 Franklin Road), a pet boutique that offers food, toys, apparel, health and well being, and great travel friendly items.
Once you've stocked up on all the essentials, head to dinner at Lost Dog Cafe (5876 Washington Blvd), a gourmet pizza and deli establishments whose profits have supported the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation since 2001.
