Airlie is proud to be the home of the first LOVEwork in Warrenton! Constructed by Airlie Staff from 95% recycled materials, Airlie's LOVEwork is representative of its commitment to sustainable initiatives. Since 1961, Airlie has been a pioneer among environmentally friendly ("green") hotel and conference center practices in the United States. Items used to create the LOVEwork include recycled wine bottles, Trex (created from soda bottles and grocery bags), reclaimed steel, a tractor tire from the Fauquier County landfill, even live plants and vines which truly bring our sculpture to life. In the evening, it is illuminated by LED solar panel lighting.
Reminiscent of the Pont des Art Bridge in Paris, the "E" allows "love locks" to be attached. Couples are encouraged to bring a lock to add to the Airlie LOVEwork. There is a special box in the tractor tire where couples can throw away the key.
Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the LOVEwork and share with loved ones on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/VirginiaisforLovers or on Twitter with the special hashtag #LOVEVA. A complete list of the LOVEwork locations is at www.Virginia.org/LOVE.
