From a romantic rooftop wedding in downtown Roanoke to rustic-chic nuptials with a Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop, these are a few of our favorite Virginia weddings that have pulled at our heart strings and left us misty-eyed.

Veritas Vineyards & Winery in Afton: Christopher & Michael

Surrounded by their family and friends, Christopher and Michael said “I do” at Veritas Vineyards & Winery in Virginia’s picturesque wine country. The couple brought their black-tie nuptials to life with a classic color scheme of whites and creams, glitzy gold decor, and an abundance of lush florals and greenery. Both looking dapper in modern black tuxedos, the two had a sentimental first look in Veritas’ beautiful tasting room before exchanging vows in an al fresco ceremony with the vineyard and misty Blue Ridge Mountains as their backdrop. The couple celebrated their newlywed status with dinner and dancing in Veritas’ grand ballroom, which was draped from floor to ceiling with white fabric and illuminated with romantic candlelight and twinkle lights.

Center in the Square in Roanoke: Raquel & Daniel

Downtown Roanoke’s hip rooftop venue Center in the Square provided a romantic setting for Raquel and Daniel to exchange vows. They decked out their venue in a modern black and gold color scheme with pink blooms, lucite chairs and bistro lights. Wearing her mother’s wedding dress, Raquel made a grand entrance down the rooftop’s circular staircase before her parents escorted her down the aisle to Daniel. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds celebrated with dinner and an epic dance party as the sun set over downtown Roanoke and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Raquel and Daniel added their own personal touches to the celebration by having a tasty candy and dessert bar and having friends and family write well wishes on a black and gold globe in lieu of a traditional guest book.

Neon District in Norfolk: Joyce & John

Joyce and John let their quirky personalities shine bright on their wedding day as they added fun, unique touches throughout their celebration. After their church ceremony, the couple and their bridal party headed to downtown Norfolk’s Neon District to take photographs as the art district’s vibrant murals provided a colorful backdrop. Dinner and dancing was held nearby at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Friends and family had plenty of fun activities to entertain themselves from playing Mario Cart and dancing to getting goofy in the photo booth with quirky masks and props. After dinner, guests sampled one of the many color cakes that was part of their dessert bar and smoked celebratory cigars.

King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville: Myra & Kevin

Paying homage to the bride’s Pakistani heritage, Myra and Kevin’s vineyard wedding celebration embraced both the bride’s cultural background and the bucolic southern locale. Myra looked radiant in a traditional fuchsia and gold-embellished silk Pakistani wedding dress that she accessorized with a gold wrap, glitzy jewelry and henna tattoos. She completed her bridal look by adorning her hair with pink and white orchid blooms. Bridesmaids donned gowns in a variety of styles and shades of pink, and also had their hands embellished in henna to complement the bride’s look. Kevin looked dapper in a navy three-piece suit with a blush bowtie and his groomsmen wore contrasting light tan suits with blush vests and bowties. After exchanging vows on King Family Vineyards’ lush lawn, the newlyweds celebrated surrounded by friends and family in the winery’s sophisticated ballroom, which was decorated with rustic wooden cross-back chairs, a mix of ivory and periwinkle linens, and white blooms.

The Barn at Timber Creek in Farmville: Breanna & Clay

Farmville’s The Barn at Timber Creek set the tone for Breanna and Clay’s rustic-chic nuptials with its wood-paneled walls, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and forest surroundings. The couple had a touching first look in the meadow, which also provided a dreamy backdrop for their newlywed portraits. Breanna and Clay said “I do” in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by towering pine trees. Back inside the venue, friends and family joined the couple for a fun-filled bash. The rustic venue was draped in fabric and bistro lights. Wooden farm tables were embellished with burlap and lace runners, mason jar glasses and centerpieces created out of tree slabs, blue jars and white blooms. Plenty of personal touches were found throughout their celebration from the mismatched vintage china and burlap pendant banner to the tree branch cake-cutting knife and delicious dessert bar.

Mother Nature did all the talking in Meredith and Zack’s beautiful countryside wedding in Bedford. On Sierra Vista’s 300-acre property, the two became husband and wife in a picturesque outdoor ceremony with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. To let the great outdoors shine, the couple decorated their ceremony site simply with wooden signage, barrels, wooden chairs, and a rustic wedding arch adorned with hydrangeas and roses. Meredith donned a strapless sweetheart neckline lace gown and Zack sported a blue suit with blush tie. Dinner and dancing was held in Sierra Vista’s rustic wooden ballroom. Chandeliers of blooms and greenery were hung from the ceiling, wooden columns were wrapped in romantic twinkle lights and touches of burlap found throughout. Tables were draped in crisp white linens and garlands, and set with mismatched china. As the sun set over the Blue Ridge Mountains, the couple had a romantic newlywed portrait session that captured all the feels on their picture-perfect wedding day.
