Prince William and Manassas is the perfect place to begin your group’s journey to the Virginia International Tattoo in Coastal Virginia.
Discover a local brewery and the craft of beer making, experience All-American food and sports, and pay homage to our military’s past. Fill your trip with patriotic experiences and instill the American spirit with your group before arriving at one of the nation’s most renowned military events.
Day 1:
Start off with a beer from Heritage Brewing Company, which is owned and operated by local veterans. Tour the facility, discover the process of brewing, and taste some of their patriotic creations such as “Freedom Isn’t Free” and “Revolution”.
Enjoy the laid back atmosphere and delicious steaks at All American Steakhouse before heading to Pfitzner Stadium to see the ball game. Catch a fly ball and cheer on the Potomac Nationals as they defend their home turf. Feel like MVP’s when you hear your group’s name called over the PA system and see yourselves on the video board! Prime seating close to the field will make you feel as though you’re part of the game as you enjoy this All-American sport.
Day 2:
Embark on a morning filled with patriotism! First stop is Quantico National Cemetery, where our nation’s veterans are remembered. Your group will have the honor of helping the Missing in America Project, an organization that aims to find, identify and inter unclaimed remains of fallen veterans. Experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by participating in placing flags on the graves of these previously forgotten heroes.
Travel down the street to experience the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Uncover the history of the Corps, test your skills as a Marine, and get insight into the lives of our nation’s heroes. Finally, dine like a 5-star general on Marine Corps Base Quantico and enjoy lunch at The Clubs at Quantico before heading to Coastal Virginia to see the awe-inspiring Virginia International Tattoo performances.
Upon arrival in Norfolk, enjoy dinner and dancing aboard the Spirit of Norfolk. Savor freshly prepared food in a nautical setting with dynamic professional live entertainment, as you cruise along the Elizabeth River with the Norfolk skyline as your backdrop.
Day 3:
The morning is filled with the excitement of the Festival’s “Parade of Nations,” featuring international floats, marching bands and specialty units. Special seating is available for groups.
Either before or after the parade, tour Nauticus, Hampton Roads Naval Museum and Battleship Wisconsin. Nauticus is a fun and exciting interactive science and technology center exploring the power of the sea. It features more than 150 exhibits, films and exotic aquatic life. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum, located inside of Nauticus introduces you to over 200 years of naval history in Hampton Roads. Located next to Nauticus, discover the Battleship Wisconsin, the largest and last battleship ever built by the US Navy.
After the colorful floats and splendid bands pass by in the parade, don’t miss the opportunity to explore NATO Nations and their diverse cultures at NATOfest. Food, entertainment, and ships to tour are just a few of the surprises in store for your guests! Your group can walk to this complimentary outdoor festival right from their parade seats, held in Town Point Park.
Later, take a bus tour of the world’s largest naval installation, Naval Station Norfolk. A knowledgeable, active duty Navy guide will board your motor coach and give a narrated tour of the base. After your tour, cruise aboard the Victory Rover Naval Base Cruises. Take a two hour cruise touring the world’s largest naval base by water.
For dinner, dine at the Freemason Abbey Restaurant & Tavern. The congregation of the Second Presbyterian Church originally dedicated the structure as a church in 1873. In 1988, renovation began on the over 135 year-old church to refurbish the building into the restaurant it is today.
Tonight, enjoy the Virginia International Tattoo which is part parade and part performance, featuring top military bands, precision drill teams, massed pipes and drums with over 800 performers.
Day 4:
Begin your day by discovering one of the largest collections of azaleas, camellias, roses and rhododendrons on the East Coast at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. Experience 155 glorious acres of gardens with guided tours on foot, tram or by boat. The azaleas are in full bloom so do not miss such an important part of this annual festival!
Afterwards, tour the Douglas Macarthur Memorial and discover the life and career of a five star General of the Army. Located in downtown Norfolk’s restored 1850’s City Hall, the complex contains a museum, theater and special exhibit galleries.
On your way home, be sure to stop by O’Sullivan’s Wharf for a tasty lunch just along the inlet. A casual atmosphere and delicious seafood make this a local’s favorite in Norfolk!
