Operated by the Northern Virginia Urban League and located in the former headquarters the largest domestic slave trading company in the country, the Freedom House Museum preserves the story of thousands of men, women and children who passed through these walls on a harrowing journey to lives of bondage and hard labor in the Deep South to enrich slave traders and slave holders. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property that once held slaves captive now serves to emancipate, educate, and enlighten their descendants through exhibitions, tours and outreach. Self-guided tours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guided tours and weekends by appointment only. Free admission to the public; donations accepted. Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
