The American Battlefield Trust and the Friends of Culpeper Battlefields™ invite you to join in marking the 50th anniversary of the planet’s largest civic event with a morning of hands-on environmental stewardship and volunteerism at the Brandy Station Battlefield on Earth Day 2020.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover, explore and help maintain one of Culpeper’s most beautiful and storied green spaces — Fleetwood Hill, located at the heart of the largest cavalry battle ever fought on American soil.
Participants will be able to choose from among a variety of projects for which to volunteer, appropriate to their age and ability — ranging from cleaning the interpretive signs along the Fleetwood Hill walking trail to helping restore the historic viewshed on-site through the guided removal of a small modern structure.
Coffee and refreshments will be provided, together with all the necessary equipment and supplies — though participants who own work gloves are encouraged to bring them. The event will begin with a brief orientation, inclusive of a historic overview of Fleetwood Hill and the Battle of Brandy Station.
Limited parking will be available at the event site itself with plentiful overflow parking immediately across the road.
Attendance is free, but please RSVP by clicking here and submitting this form.
