Built in 1769 by William Harwood, Jr., Endview is one of the oldest remaining structures located within the City of Newport News. At the start of the Civil War, the plantation was home to Dr. Humphrey Harwood Curtis a medical doctor who also grew a variety of crops. The house and adjacent property were occupied by both Confederate and Federal troops during the Civil War's Peninsula Campaign. Guided tours of house include information related to the colonial history, Civil War history, and nineteenth century medicine. A self-guided tour of the grounds includes a quarter mile nature trail, natural springs, outbuildings (exterior viewing only), and two family cemeteries.
