Lee Hall Mansion was constructed around 1850 by wealthy planter Richard D. Lee. The residence was designed in the Italianate architectural style. The home served as a Confederate headquarters during the 1862 Peninsula Campaign. Guided tours are offered of the period rooms. The Peninsula Campaign self-guided exhibit galleries feature a collection of Civil War artifacts including drawings, sidearms and presentation firearms. A walking trail loops around the house and allows the visitor to see the historic kitchen outbuilding as well as Civil War earthworks. Wayside markers along the trail offer further interpretation of the site's history.
