The Workhouse Arts Center, formerly part of the DC correctional facilities, is now the place to view art, buy art, make art and more! Set on 55 acres of land, the Workhouse provides a home for more than 100 of the regions finest professional and emerging artists. Visitors can view work by nationally and internationally known artists, experience music, live theatre, film series and celebrity performances. Annually the Workhouse presents 100 art exhibitions, 800 classes, and 300 performances. Just 20 minutes from DC off I-95 South near Historic Occoquan, the Workhouse is open Wednesday - Sunday.

The Workhouse Arts Center is also one of three entities included in the NOVA Arts and Cultural District. This multi-jurisdictional designation is the of the first of its kind in the State of Virginia and is a destination of choice including Occoquan Regional Park (NOVA Parks), the Town of Occoquan, and the Workhouse Arts Center.
