The Richmond Railroad Museum vividly brings the region’s railroad history to life. Kids will love climbing into the cab of a real tank engine or the cupola of an authentic Seaboard railroad caboose on the Museum’s tracks. While you are here, check out area’s largest model railroad layout and drive a virtual train on the locomotive simulator.
There is lots more to see inside and outside this restored 1915 Southern Railway station at 102 Hull Street – just across the 14th Street bridge from downtown Richmond. Every weekend, knowledgeable hosts from the Old Dominion Chapter of the NRHS will guide your tour. Admission is only $5 for adults. Children 13 and under are free.
The Museum's gift shop features railroad clothing, toys, books and exclusive Christmas ornaments of Richmond railroad landmarks. Hours: Saturdays 11a-4p and Sundays 1p-4p. Special tours by reservation. The Museum is also available for private events including wedding receptions - with an authentic three-rank theater organ. Check the Museum website or Facebook page for events, programs and schedule updates.
Plan to bring the family to our annual Richmond Train Day, Saturday, September 29th from 9-3 @ The Museum!
