Independence Golf Club is Richmond's best daily-fee golf course (according to Richmond Times Dispatch 2016 and Richmond Magazine 2017). Two brothers bought the 23113 property from the Virginia State Golf Association Foundation in 2013. Originally designed by Tom Fazio and re-designed by Lester George in 2014, the 18- hole championship course stretches across gently rolling terrain on the edge of Virginia's Piedmont region. The newest addition of Champion Bermuda greens make this a destination for any player passing through the Richmond region. For junior golfers, families, and accomplished golfers who want to work on their short game, the 9-Hole Short Course, also designed by Tom Fazio, is the course of choice. As of the summer of 2017, Independence partnered with Virginia Tech to build the largest live test agronomy facility in the country. Every single green is a different strand of either bermuda or zoysia grass and they are absolutely pure.
Tavern 19 is the full-service, on-site restaurant. The pizza in Tavern 19 was voted the 'Family-Favorite Pizza' by Style Weekly in 2016. Tavern 19 also hosts the 'Rockin' at Independence' outdoor concert series!
Come out and enjoy all that Independence has to offer. We can't wait to serve you!
