The Virginia Living Museum is home to more than 250 different species of wildlife native to Virginia. Visitors can get up close to photograph and view wildlife in the wild or in the museum’s exhibits. Indoor living exhibits explore the nature of Virginia, including habitats of a cypress swamp and mountain cove. See the unusual - wood turtles, flying squirrels, venomous snakes, and the more common - frogs, mice and songbirds. Outdoor boardwalk provides close-up views of bald eagle, bobcat, otters, beavers, coastal birds and more. The museum’s natural habitat attracts warblers, woodland birds, waterfowl, osprey, turtles and more according to the season. See one of the most extensive displays of native plants in Virginia and learn eco-friendly gardening and building techniques. The museum is part of the Virginia Birding Trail and the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network.
