Just 20 miles from downtown Richmond, Pocahontas offers boating, picnicking, camping, hiking and a wide range of interpretive and environmental education programs.
The Aqua Center offers seasonal water-based activities for the entire family, including a kiddie pool, fountain wet deck, three-foot and five-foot deep leisure pools, activity pool and two enclosed tube water slides.
Rowboat, paddleboat, kayak and canoe rentals also are available at the 200-acre Swift Creek Lake during the summer. The park’s two fishing lakes feature crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish. The park has more than 58 miles of trails throughout 7,724 acres open to hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. While there, be sure to check out the unique Civilian Conservation Corps Museum.
Pocahontas has more than 25 miles of directional mountain bike trails including traditional single-track, machine-built flow and hand-cycle friendly trails. These trails, along with the James River Parks Systems trails, comprise the IMBA bronze level Richmond Regional Ride Center.
