Johnson Cabin is located above the village of Lydia (Greene County), Virginia, on PATC's "Vining Tract" property that borders the east side of Shenandoah National Park's southern section (PATC Map 11). The small (7' x 15') log cabin preserves the many vestiges of the Appalachian settlement that occupied the land during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
There are two double-wide bunks, one above the other – bunk bed style. No more than 4 persons, including children of any age, may use the cabin and surrounding area overnight. There is a combination wood-burning cooking & heating stove. Fallen limbs and downed trees are plentiful in all directions from the cabin and may be used. No lighting is provided – renters should bring flashlights or camp candles. The nearest reliable spring is 0.3 mile away at Morris Cabin. There is a 0.8 mile hike from the parking area to the cabin. A pit toilet outside is for human waste only. Toilet paper is not provided.
