Begin the day with breakfast at Riley's Diner (Southern style) or Olive's Deli & Grill in Ruckersville. After breakfast, spend the morning antiquing in Ruckersville. Start next door at Ruckersville Gallery, home to hundreds of vendors who sell fine antiques, art, decorative objects, and modern ruckus – their mid-century vintage selection. You'll find ongoing estate sales, new dealers, and specialty items like vintage jewelry, rare coins, rugs, and unique furniture.
Afterwards, travel ½ mile north to Country Store Antique Mall where you will find thousands of old books and treasures. This is one of five antique stores clustered next to one another. Lawson's Antiques, Rambling Rose and The Greene House Shops & Gateway Antique Center (on the west side of 29/33) are inviting for the seasoned or amateur antiquer.
Spend the second part of your day with local artists. Head east on Route 33 to Blue Ridge Pottery nestled at the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Here you will discover high fired stoneware which showcases the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Tour the studio and experience first-hand how pieces come to life in a pottery class. Take a short drive into the County seat of Stanardsville and visit our next artisan location, Noon Whistle Pottery. This unique store is located on Main Street within the downtown historic district housed in a 1930's filling station. Noon Whistle Pottery showcases and sells the artwork of over one hundred American artists, craftsmen and potters throughout its spacious three floor building.
Now that you have a taste of the arts, take a short stroll down Main Street to The Palette Art Gallery in it's new location in the Stanardsville Shopping Center. Here you will discover a wonderful collection of local and regional artists. Enjoy a delightful authentic Mexican meal on Main Street at Sombrero's or Sal's Pizzeria & Family Restaurant.
After dinner, drive further up 33W to Shenandoah National Park where you will enjoy the fresh evening country air with breathtaking views. Four distinct seasons make Shenandoah a new and exciting place to be each and every month. Shenandoah National Park is always open.
After your activities, enjoy a relaxing overnight stay at one of the county's many Blue Ridge Inns & Cabins or the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlottesville-Ruckersville.
