Make Lynchburg your fall headquarters! Enjoy the food, fun and color of the fall festival season in Central Virginia. Bring your sweetie, bring the whole family, but don’t forget your camera!
Day 1: After checking into your hotel, head for the Visitor Center and pick up a copy of the Historic Districts Walking Tour brochure. Treat yourself to an unforgettable stroll through Diamond Hill, Garland Hill or any of our seven Nationally Registered historic districts. The breathtaking architecture is fabulous any time of year, but unparalleled in the fall. Savor a relaxed dinner at a downtown restaurant then take in an evening of music at one of the local nightspots before retiring for the evening.
Day 2: Put on your walking shoes, grab your camera and head out for a day jam-packed with festival fun. Visit during the Day at the Point festival at Point of Honor where you’ll enjoy living history, food, children’s games and crafts, period music, craft demonstrations, a bateau exhibit and much more. Also plan to tour the area while the Harvest Festival at Booker T. Washington National Monument is in full swing. Here you will find blacksmithing, wool spinning, kitchen hearth cooking, quilting, apple-butter making, and more. Return to Lynchburg in time to top off your evening with a fine meal at Main Street Eatery in downtown Lynchburg before retiring for the night. Oh, and don’t forget to rub those feet, there’s more tomorrow!
Day 3: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Market at Main before heading out to either to the Wine and Garlic Festival at Rebec Vineyards or the Peak Foliage Open House at Peaks of Otter Winery, both in the fall. Make the most of your final day with us full of wine tasting, garlic eating, craft shopping, apple sampling, cider drinking, animal petting and more. Return to Lynchburg for a late afternoon take in sunset on the James River Heritage Trail to stretch your muscles before the drive home. Now that you’ve discovered Lynchburg in the fall, we know you’ll be back each season!
