Virginia Arts Festival is hosting a stellar line-up on select Saturday nights from September—April with the Attucks Jazz Club series.
Day 1
Music is in the air at Norfolk Botanical Garden’s 30 themed gardens. Take a boat or tram through the seasonal gardens and discover more than 95 species of birds.
Norfolk Seafood Company and Big Easy Oyster Grill on Tazewell Street is where seafood lovers can find great seafood with a true southern kick. Grab a decadent cocktail at one of Norfolk's favorite speakeasies, Gershwin's. A popular 1930's piano bar, recently voted " Third Best Bar in Virginia" on Bestthingsva.com. Enjoy a classic Manhattan or try a Gershwin's original, Smoked Whiskey.
Day 2
We recommend brunch at No Frill Bar and Grill with their ever-changing menus of classic comfort food with an innovative twist.
Next check out the latest exhibit at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Open Tuesday through Sunday, with over 30,000 pieces of art from Antique Tiffany Glass to Ancient Artifacts from the Early Classic Period (B.C.).
Head over to the Chrysler Museum's, The Perry Glass Studio. Where you can watch artists from around the world create handcrafted pieces from start to finish or partake in a free noon demo offered Tuesday-Sunday.
Before the Attucks's Jazz performance, relax with a glass of wine and dinner freshly prepared with a farm-to-table menu at Press 626 Café and Wine Bar.
Then head over for the Attucks Jazz Club Series presented by the Virginia Arts Festival. A state and national landmark, the Attucks Theatre is distinguished as the oldest remaining legitimate theatre in the nation that was completely financed, designed, constructed, and operated by African- Americans. Jazz performances start at 8 p.m.
Day 3
Enjoy breakfast downtown at 757 Crave Downtown. Afterward, head over to Ghent for Antique shopping, some of the most popular hot spots are Le Marché, Morgan House Antiques Gallery, and Three Swallows Imports. You can also find The Mermaid Winery, Rip Rap Brewing, Bold Mariners, and O’Connor Brewing Company for drinks and entertainment.
