When I was six, I discovered my grandfather’s wood shop. I used scraps of wood to make toys. As I grew older, I made more elaborate pieces; many of which I still use. On a whim, I took a pottery class. I had found an exciting new world in which to make things I could use! After becoming proficient in the basic skills, I delved into glaze formulation. I mix my own glazes and continue to develop new and exciting surfaces. The medium of clay requires skill more than tools to produce quality results. My hands and imagination are the most important tools I possess.
My work consists of a wide range of functional, enjoyable, and artistic pottery, using glazes that are food safe. My main source of inspiration comes from a desire to make something useful. My goal is to make useful objects that are a pleasure to use.
I have been making pots for 25 years but it really started twice that long ago with a few scraps of wood.
