The Boydton LOVEwork was created in 2016 for the 40th Annual Boydton Day Festival. It sits on the lawn between the Historic Boyd Tavern (c. 1790) and the Boydton Town Hall (c. 1905).
The L is comprised of driftwood from Buggs Island Lake (Kerr Lake) and red clay bricks from the ruins of the original Randolph-Macon College.
The O is the Boydton town seal and is bordered with horseshoes to remind us of Boydton’s rich horse racing history.
The V is a pair of antique wooden Cypress Garden water skis to represent the many water sports that can be enjoyed on the lake.
The E is a collage of antique photos of businesses, homes, and government buildings located in Historic Boydton, many of which are still standing.
Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the LOVEworks and share with loved ones on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/VirginiaisforLovers or on Twitter with the special hashtag #LOVEVA. A complete list of the LOVEwork locations is at www.Virginia.org/LOVE.
