The central theme of the Chesapeake LOVEwork branding campaign centers on the natural beauty and great outdoors in Chesapeake. Many visitors don’t realize that Chesapeake is a hidden gem of natural beauty only minutes from urban Norfolk and the millions of tourists in Virginia Beach. In Chesapeake, there are miles of gorgeous green spaces, free parks, and over 22 miles of water ways making it a refuge for wildlife.
The design for the Chesapeake LOVEwork is specific to the features of Chesapeake. The design incorporates the animals easily seen around Chesapeake. The sign is carved out of loblolly pine with letters standing six feet high. The L is in the shape of a blue crab, the O is two river otters playing, the V is the Blue Heron from the City seal and the E is a black bear with her two cubs. All are indigenous to the City of Chesapeake.
Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the LOVEworks and share with loved ones on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/VirginiaisforLovers or on Twitter with the special hashtags #LOVEVA. A complete list of the LOVEwork locations is at www.Virginia.org/LOVE.
