THIS AZA accredited, pocket zoo is nestled atop Mill Mountain next to Roanoke’s famous Star landmark, as well as Mill Mountain Garden Club's Wildflower Garden and offers breathtaking views of the Roanoke Valley. Mill Mountain Zoo is easily accessible from I-81/581, downtown Roanoke, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Zoo is home to vulnerable and endangered species like red pandas, snow leopards and red wolves and offers year-round opportunities to see the animals and the spectacular views of the Roanoke Valley. KIDS OF ALL AGES LOVE TO RIDE OUR NARROW GAUGE TRAIN AS WELL.
Special events and educational programs occur throughout the year, both after-hours and during the zoo day. Group tours, birthday parties and after-hours rentals of the zoo's grounds are available. Mill Mountain Zoo is currently open 7 days a week from 10-5pm, with admissions closing at 4pm. Check the website for weather related closings and updates.
