Step back in time and let BrightPath Tours lead you on Part II of our audio walking tour of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
In Part I, we visited some of the taverns and sites associated with the Lee and Washington families. In Part II, we start at the old waterfront that was once home to some of the first industries in the country. From there, we'll visit remnants of the railroads that brought goods to those businesses -- while bringing prosperity to the growing town. We're going to talk about the fires that wiped out entire blocks -- and the early fire companies that fought those fires. This tour includes some of the historic churches in Old Town and at one church, we'll stop by the grave of an unknown Revolutionary War soldier.
While we walk the streets that our Founding Fathers frequented, we'll continue our discussion of the town's well-known inhabitants, men -- and women -- who helped make Alexandria an important hub for both business and socializing as well as a place of prosperity and patriotism! Visitors will find that alongside the historic sites, modern conveniences abound that will make for a most memorable experience!
