Virginia Cooperative Extension with support from the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association is hosting the Gardening in the Valley Tour. This year's tour features five uniquely different and spectacular gardens in Shenandoah County. Each one will provide ideas that gardening enthusiasts of all levels can replicate in their own gardens. The gardens include the Edinburg Mill Biofiltration Garden, three private gardens (country, suburban, and in-town), plus Veatch’s Gleann Arboretum, which opens for tours only on special occasions. Master Gardeners will be on-site at each garden to point out educational features and answer gardening questions.
Tickets go on sale in late April. Proceeds will benefit construction of a Peace Pavilion at Corhaven Graveyard, a site that holds the remains of formerly enslaved persons associated with an antebellum plantation in Shenandoah County.
Event organizers will follow all COVID safety precautions in place by the State of Virginia and Virginia Cooperative Extension at the time of the tour. The gardens on the tour are large enough for guests to spread out and enjoy the outdoors without close contact with people not in their group.
