Fredericksburg is one of America’s most historic and intriguing cities. Washington, Jefferson, James Monroe and even Abraham Lincoln all either lived or visited here. But few know this is where George Washington grew up. His boyhood home was right across the river from downtown. If young George threw a half-dollar across a river (as legend insists) that happened here and not on the mile-wide Potomac. After a lively and fun trolley tour introduces us to this gem of a town we’ll go over to Ferry Farm and see where young George lived as a boy through his teenage years. A fascinating archaeological project there has unearthed the foundation of the Washington home and a replica of the home has been built on it. Tour the newly reconstructed childhood home of George Washington learning about his earlier years. Then take a tour of the archaeology lab where you will discover the artifacts that were discovered at the home site. We’ll also tour the home of Washington’s mother as well as Kenmore, the stunning plantation home of his sister. Chatham Manor is the only house visited by Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln and we’ll add our own names to that list. We’ll top off our visit with a delightful evening of professional dinner theater.
