Located in the heart of central Virginia, just 30-minutes outside of Charlottesville, The Market at Grelen creates custom itineraries that celebrates Virginia’s unique outdoor setting. The day will begin with a scenic kayaking adventure down the Rapidan River, led by Rapidan River Kayak Co. No kayaking experience is required and all equipment is included.
Following the family-friendly kayaking, guests can enjoy a gourmet riverside picnic, prepared by The Market at Grelen’s Casual Café and end the day with a Virginia beer flight tasting on the Market at Grelen’s Stone Terrace.
Enjoy some of The Market at Grelen’s famous homemade scones and pastries and fuel up on some freshly brewed coffee before flying high with Skydive Orange. Guests can start their day with the exhilarating rush of tandem skydiving.
Afterwards, guests can hike off their adrenaline rush on Grelen’s five-mile hiking trail system. The Market at Grelen features five miles of trails through the nursery, meadows and forest with a special connector trail (deemed a “Virginia Treasure” by the Office of the Governor) to James Madison’s six-mile Montpelier Trail System. Trails are dog friendly and complimentary. Private horseback rides can be arranged.
Guests can finish their day with a Grelen picnic lunch and private sparkling local wine flight at the top of the Overlook Trail.

The Market at Grelen offers two nearby vacation rental properties. Boxwood Villa is a newly renovated 1891 five-bedroom home that accommodates ten guests and is located just outside of Orange, VA. Spotswood Lodge is a farmhouse and cottage offering eight bedrooms, accommodating 16-20 guests, located down the road from The Market.
