Park the Car for Walkable City Fun

Historic Richmond is easy to love, and there's more to do on foot than you can shake a stick at! Discover the history that has intrigued Hollywood, along with hip shopping and delightful dinners.

Walk Western Virginia's one-time railroad hot bed, Roanoke. A new wave of excitement has this artsy downtown experiencing a new kind of hustle and bustle.

Virginia Beach was recently honored as part of America's least stressful metropolitan area and it's easy to see why. Virginia Beach's resort area contains 40 blocks of fashion, art, crafts and great food, all easily walkable.

Arlington is home of several communities brimming with great shopping and perhaps even better eats! See for yourself why Arlington is a leader in eco-friendly initiatives and thus one of the prime park the car destinations in Virginia.

Black Friars Piercing Eloquence TourThe city of Staunton, one of Virginia's many walkable Main Street communities, combines historic charm with a modern arts vibe. From museums and galleries to quaint boutiques and fine dining, this historic downtown is a gem in the Valley of Virginia.

The waterfront town of Portsmouth has fun activities for the whole family and is especially kid-friendly. Check out the military history, as well as sports history when you park the car here!

USS Wisconsin Sailor FamilyWhen you're done in Portsmouth, why not take the Carrie B across the river to Norfolk? Doing so means maritime history and excellent shopping!

Another walkable Shenandoah Valley town is Harrisonburg, a college town brimming with art and entertainment. Enjoy concerts, plays museums, a microbrewery and plenty of kid-friendly activities.

The Charlottesville Historic District is indeed a spend-the-day destination. A variety of arts, history, dining and shopping encompass Court Square, an area that drew in some of our nation's founding fathers.

Great shopping and dining can be found in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg. The history is rich and plentiful, and Carl's Frozen Custard is to die for!
