CORN MAZES AND PUMPKIN PATCHES

There are a few activities that really say fall to us; picking out the perfect pumpkin at a local pumpkin patch, cozying up in a thick blanket on a hay ride through the fields, planning a scenic drive to get a peek at some of Virginia’s famous fall foliage, and of course, taking on the challenge of a corn maze. Bring the entire family and wander through the spent husks left from the summer harvest at these uniquely challenging corn mazes, then find the perfect pumpkin to bring home! 

Historic Crab Orchard Corn Maze - Tazewell 

Dates: mid September – late October 

A historic site that embraces the season is the Crab Orchard Museum in Southwest Virginia. They have a three-acre corn maze with options for all ages. After you solve the maze, take a ride around the property on a hay wagon, then tour the museum to check out important artifacts that tell the story of Virginia’s history. On Friday and Saturday evenings, bring along your flashlights and solve the maze in the dark. But don’t worry, the maze is all about fun, not fear; there is nothing spooky or haunted about these after-dark tours!

Blue Toad Hard Cider's Blue Ridge Mountain Maze - Roseland

Dates: Weekends, Sept. 21 - Nov. 3

Blue Toad presents Blue Ridge Mountain Maze, a five-acre corn maze and fall festival happening weekends from September 21st - November 3rd. Adventure through the corn maze with stunning Blue Ridge Mountain views, scoop up the perfect pumpkin, sit by the fire, sip a hot cup of cider, and spend hours playing in the courtyard of fun, celebrating the fall season with your loved ones. The Night Mazes are super popular for anyone seeking a nighttime adventure. Wander the maze with flashlights under the moon with a campfire waiting at the end is a special experience. On select weekends, catch live music, special events, and "movies in the meadow"—an outdoor theater experience on a giant screen. In addition to the pumpkins and corn mazes, this event will have giant mountain slides, farm animals, an obstacle course, apple slingshots, and lots of delicious fall food and drinks. Located off Nelson 151 at the base of Wintergreen Resort and the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Berkeley Plantation Corn Maze - Charles City

Dates: October - November 

Just outside of Richmond, Berkeley Plantation offers year-round tours that teach the colonial history of the property and the surrounding region, but starting in September, the corn fields are transformed into a challenging and fun corn maze. Additionally, the property has pumpkin picking, historic exhibits, and guided tours of the home and property, and you’ll find stunning scenery in the autumn gardens and along the plantation’s river shores.

Yoder's Farm Corn Maze - Rustburg

Dates: mid September - early November 

Yoder’s Farm handcrafts their corn maze each year with a new unique theme and design. Take on the maze during the day, or for a more difficult challenge, visit in the evening for one of the popular after-dark maze tours. The property also has a pumpkin patch and an area for the kids to visit with the farm animals, making it a family-friendly fall destination.

Temple Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch - Leesburg 

Dates: October 

The Temple Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch spans four weeks during the fall; this event typically also features pig races, hay forts, and their incredible 24-acre Corn Maize, the biggest in Virginia and featuring a different theme each year.

Corn Maze at Liberty Mills Farm - Somerset 

Dates: early September - early November 

Virginia’s largest corn maze spread across 34 acres of Liberty Mills Farm in Somerset and includes four trails of varying difficulty for all ages. The time needed to get through the trails varies from 30 minutes for the easiest to three hours for the most difficult. On select dates, the corn maze stays open after dark, and guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight to make their way through the maze. In addition to the corn maze, there is an eight-acre pumpkin patch with 40 different pumpkin varietals.

Great Country Farms has a busy fall season, beginning with apple picking in late August/early September, followed by the Corn Maze & Apple Harvest Festival in September and the Fall Pumpkin Harvest Festival in October. On weekends, the farm hosts wagon rides, cider pressing demos, and cow trains for the kids. Don’t miss sampling the cider donuts, a seasonal favorite treat! 

Back Home on the Farm Adventures Corn Maze - Harrisonburg 

Dates: September - October

Harrisonburg’s Back Home on the Farm Corn Maze chooses a theme each year that relates to an important community focus. Each weekend, the farm will host a story time at the maze for kids of all ages. The fall event has over 25 additional activities for the kids to enjoy during their visit, including a pumpkin patch with more than 60 varieties of pumpkins, pig races, a farm animal petting area, putt-putt golf, climbing walls, and a 60-foot slide.
