The Adventure Park—Virginia Beach

The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium is an eco-friendly zip line and aerial adventure experience in the trees above the scenic Owls Creek. Perfect for families or groups, participants soar through 17 treetop trails, 258 platforms, and 33 ziplines. The Adventure Park has zip lines for the beginner to expert, as well as an impressive jungle gym.  

How To Book: Advance reservations are recommended, because the park will often sell out. 

Don't Miss: Glow in the Park gives visitors the opportunity to conquer the course at night. Fairy and multi-colored lights turn on to aid climbers in their nocturnal adventure

Plunge over the Breaks Canyon — nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the South — when you take on the Canyon Rim Zip Line. From above, adventurers can get a fresh perspective on the 1,000-foot deep Appalachian gorge, carved over millennia by the Russell Fork River.

Bear Mountain Ziplines—Luray

Soar through over 50 acres of forest during this Shenandoah Valley adventure. The Mama Bear course at Bear Mountain Ziplines includes seven ziplines, concluding with a stretch over a meadow to the three-story Bear Scramble climbing wall. For a kid-friendly challenge, the Baby Bear High Ropes course — designed for children five and up — will guarantee a fun and safe adventure.

Massanutten Family Adventure Park—Rockingham

Massanutten Resort offers plenty of activities, from its waterpark and golf course to mountain biking and escape rooms. The Family Adventure Park, located in the ski area, is a highlight for family fun. Customize your thrills by signing up for the Mega Zip, summer tubing, the climbing wall, or a climbing excursion. There's also a course designed just for kids. 

How To Book: Purchase tickets in person. The park offers combo deals for select activities. 

Don't Miss: If you need to catch your breath, try out the gem mining area and see if you can find something glittering underground. 

Treetop Quest at Explore Park—Roanoke

This Roanoke park is perfect for a family of adventurers. Aerial obstacles at Treetop Quest include Tarzan swings, tightropes, platforms, and several ziplines. Courses are split into different levels to suit various difficulties. 

How To Book: You can sign up online for a full two-hour experience, or walk up to the visitor center to see if there's space day-of.

Don't Miss: Kids will love bouncing around on the 1,500-sqft cargo net trampoline, open to those ages 4 to 6. 

Adventure Park At Sandy River—Rice

Take on a three-hour treetop adventure that includes 60 aerial obstacles and 20 ziplines at the Sandy River Adventure Park. Choose from four difficulty levels to customize your thrill level. After reaching new heights, check out the other offerings on the property, from sunset kayak paddles to live music and drinks at the distillery. 

How To Book: You'll need at least four people in your group in order to book a session. Advance reservations are recommended.

Canopy Adventure Park—Midlothian

Take on aerial bridges, cargo nets, 10 zip lines, and other challenges at Canopy Adventure Park near Richmond. After going through safety training, you'll enjoy a self-guided adventure through one of four unique courses.

Go Ape Treetop Adventure—Williamsburg

Add some aerial fun to your Williamsburg vacation by exploring the courses at Go Ape. The classic Treetop Adventure features 37 obstacles and several ziplines, the longest of which stretches 600 feet. There's also an introductory course for those who just want to dip their toe into the high-swinging lifestyle.

Don't Miss: Go Ape also offers a nighttime version of the course, and outdoor escape room, and an axe throwing experience. 

Treetop Zoofari—Moseley 

Get a new perspective on the Metro Richmond Zoo when you take on the Treetop Zoofari. The zip line and adventure park's main course features 25 challenges and 15 ziplines, including a 600-foot zipline over the zoo's lake. From the air, you'll be able to spot the zoo's inhabitants, like capybaras, toucans, monkeys, and kangaroos. There's also a junior course for younger adventurers. 

How To Book: Make reservations in advance to guarantee your spot. Zoo admission is not included or required, but combo Zip and Zoo tickets are available. 

Coming Soon: The Treetop Zoofari course is reopening in spring 2025 after undergoing renovations and improvements. 

Salamander Adventures Zip Tours—Middleburg

Luray Caverns Rope Adventure Park—Luray

After you've explored the expansive underground wonders of Luray Caverns, take the skies at the Rope Adventure Park. The course has two levels, low ropes and high ropes, each with their own obstacles to conquer.

Harpers Ferry Adventure Center—Purcellville

You'll find this hub of outdoor adventure near the West Virginia border. The Harpers Ferry Adventure Center will have you flying along seven zip lines, traversing a 100-foot sky bridge, and conquering a ropes course with over 60 obstacles.
