It's a great spot for anglers who want more solitude along with their fishing, and also includes a kayak launch.

Come visit the quaint town along the Potomac downstream of Washington, D.C. and upstream of Chesapeake Bay on the Northern Neck. The pier leaves east from “downtown” Colonial Beach into the tidal river then ends in a “T,” making a larger fishing area. Once you are parked, you can eat and walk the riverside beach directly from the pier.

This pier is located on lowermost tidal James River just before it flows into Chesapeake Bay. There is a no fee to access the pier. A Newport News park, the pier juts southeast into the James, emanating from an unusual arrow-shaped land jetty bordered with rocks. The end of the pier widens out in a “T,” improving the fishing. Smaller tidal Salters Creek flows into the James River on the west side of the park and pier. Anglers also will be found angling from the rocks bordering the park. Anderson Park is located on the far side of Salters Creek.
