October is almost here, and in addition to bringing fun fall festivals, you can expect to find incredible live music performances throughout Virginia. From major country acts to the biggest names in rock, pop, and R&B, catch your favorite artists and discover new ones all over the Commonwealth.

MUSIC FESTIVALS

The 2nd Street Festival (Oct. 5-6) celebrates the rich culture of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood in downtown Richmond featuring three stages of live musical entertainment. Performers include Glennroy & Company, Aliyah the DJ, Arrested Development, the Soul Unlimited Band, Desirée Roots, and Nathan Mitchell.

In Big Stone Gap, Blue Highway Fest 2024 occurs from October 9-12, 2024, and celebrates bluegrass and roots music, food, and culture. Catch live music performances from Ralph Stanley II & The Clinch Mountain Boys, Scythian, Balsam Range, Flatt Out Blue, Sister Sadie, and many more during this four-day mountain festival.

Ferrum College’s Blue Ridge Folklife Festival celebrates Southwest Virginia’s cultural and musical history on October 26th. Three stages will host various Blue Ridge music styles, including bluegrass, ballads, blues, gospel, and string band music. There will also be craftspeople, vintage farm tractors, traditional foods, a living history farm museum, a petting zoo, and much more.
