    Charlottesville - July 6 - The Natural History of Trees: Walk at Monticello - Learn about the natural history of trees both native and exotic at Monticello on a tour led by Peter Hatch.

    Afton - July 6-7, 13-14 - Swannanoa Palace Open House - Major James Dooley, an executive with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company, completed construction of the $2 million Swannanoa in 1912. Dooley, who owned the Maymont estate is Richmond, built this 52-room marble palace as a token of love for his wife, Sally May. More than 300 artisans were hired to create the palace as a replica of the Villa de Medici in Rome.

    McGaheysville - July 3 - Summer Jam at Massanutten - Summer Jam @ Massanutten will feature three live bands! Festival will also feature beer gardens, kid's activities, and a fireworks finale!

    Salem - July 5-7 - All Star Baseball - Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia - The baseball competition of the Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia is an ALL-STAR event. The top 15-17 year old high school players in Virginia will represent four regions of the state in an eight game playoff. This is a marquee event that has several current professional players come through the competition, BJ Upton and Justin Verlander just to name a few.

    Mt Solon - July 12-14 - Red Wing Roots Music Festival - The Red Wing Roots Music Festival at Natural Chimneys Park. This family-friendly celebration of music features kids events and activities, and bike rides in the scenic Shenandoah Valley.

    Lexington - July 13 - BoxerWoodstock Music Festival - This outdoor concert showcases the talents of diverse genres including: classic rock ‘n ‘roll, honest-to-goodness bluegrass, old school funk, original folk and funk/jazz/rock’n’ roll fusion. There will be food, children's activities (including making a musical instrument), and fun for the whole family!

    Waynesboro - July 13 - Summer Extravaganza - Bring the whole family for a day full of good music, an arts and crafts show, family entertainment, and lots of great food! The entertainment will include live music (jazz, rock and country) as well as magicians, cloggers, hot air balloon rides and much more.

    Harrisonburg - July 27 - 22nd Annual Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Festival - The 22nd Annual Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Festival offers 25 mile, 50 mile, and a 100-mile Century Ride through scenic landscapes; includes rest stops, SAG support, entertainment, and lunch.

    Buena Vista - July 27 - StellarOne Beach Music Festival and Classic Car Show - The Classic Car Show kicks off at 8am with gates opening for entries. Bands will perform under the main pavillon with the "Embers" kicking off the festival at 1:00, followed by the "Magnificents Band" and "Band of Oz."

    Floyd - July 6 - Black Dog Music Festivals Present Rhythm and Vine - Music by The Greencards and Dangermuffin. Great food plus five wineries at this festival off Blue Ridge Parkway on the grounds of Chateau Morrisette Winery.

    Abingdon - July 7, 14, 21 & 28 - Farm Fresh Sunday Gospel Brunch - Seasonally fresh menu rooted in the weekly harvest of Southwest Virginia farms, featuring live music from throughout the region.

    Hardy - July 13 - Biathlon - Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia - "Summer Biathlon" is a combination of running and rifle marksmanship. Summer biathlon uses the same format as the Olympic Winter version, except that running is substituted for skiing. The standard distance is a 5K. The rifles are .22 caliber. Shooting 2 1/2 inch targets at 25 meters.

    Marion - July 19 - Hungry Mother Arts and Crafts Festival - This event is a juried arts and crafts show with vendors from the entire region. More than 100 artists display various types of art.

    Floyd - July 25-28 - FloydFest - FloydFest is a four-day celebration of music and art nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. This year's line up includes The Lumineers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Brandi Carlile, Citizen Cope, Hot Tuna and The Hackensaw Boys.
