Day 1: Arrive in Wytheville & “Unplug to Reconnect”
Begin your journey in this charming Southwest Virginia town with a catered lunch on the grounds of the 10-acre Willowbrook Jackson-Umberger Homestead Museum - followed by a guided tour of both the interpretative site, depicting rural life from the late 1700s to the mid-20th century, as well as the Wythe County Decorative Arts Museum, located on the property, featuring exhibits dedicated to the history of Wythe County “makers”. Outdoor Adventure at New River Trail - Head to New River Trail State Park, a 57-mile, linear trail, covering 765-acres, following abandoned railroad right-of-ways, gliding along the scenic and historic New River, one of the oldest rivers in the world and among only a handful that flow north.
