Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling visitors for over 90 years. It is the only Virginia cavern with elevator service and the closest major cavern to I-81 (Exit 269). Explore a world of breathtaking natural wonders, incredible geology and extraordinary crystalline formations waiting to be admired and photographed. You'll see the famous "Breakfast Bacon" formations, so unusual they appeared in National Geographic Magazine. You'll be delighted by soaring rooms like Long View Hall. And you'll be amazed at the variety of unique, intricate and unexpected formations like Capitol Dome, Diamond Cascade & Rainbow Lake.
Open all year.; closing times vary by season. Located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, only 2 minutes from I-81, Exit 269, less than 2 hours from Washington, DC. Also see our other attractions: American Celebration on Parade (open seasonally), Main Street of Yesteryear, and the Yellow Barn. Be sure to visit when we're having one of our events, like the Dog Days of Summer Beer Jam, Shenandoah Uncorked, or American Fright Night.
Please keep in mind that while Shenandoah Caverns does have an elevator, it is not considered handicap accessible by ADA standards. Please see our website or call for further details.
