Finding LOVE in Fauquier and Rappahannock

Fauquier County if full of LOVE!  Begin with Warrenton’s very first LOVEwork in Airlie before heading into town for an afternoon of shopping, food, and plenty of history. After a full day of fun and a very comfortable, restful night the foothills of the Shenandoah await your arrival. Come explore the small towns of Washington, Sperryville, and more. Just follow your heart and you will find an abundance of LOVE!

Day 1

Begin your trip at the Warrenton-Fauquier Visitor Center. Warrenton's Old Town features many quaint retail shops popular with locals and visitors alike. Much of Fauquier County's heritage is associated with agriculture, including wineries, and steeplechase racing.

The LOVEwork at Airlie is constructed by Airlie Staff from 95% recycled materials. Reminiscent of the Pont des Art Bridge in Paris, the "E" allows "love locks" to be attached. Couples are encouraged to bring a lock to add to the Airlie LOVEwork.

Offering 10.5 miles of bridle trails, nine miles of biking trails and 22 miles of hiking trails, all of which access the Appalachian Trail, Sky Meadows State Park is a great place for the outdoor enthusiast.

Learn more about the area’s history at the Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail (closed until further notice). See a live performance at the Fauquier Community Theatre (shows are on hold) or try out your sleuthing skills at Escape Vint Hill - Escape Room.

Day 2

Start your day with a photo-opp at the LOVEwork at Sperryville. Hearthstone School is dedicated to the principles of peace and love. The word LOVE was painted their art teacher and calligrapher, Davette Leonard. Flowers and decorative elements were painted by her students.

Continue on to the Beech Spring Gift Shop Farmers Market/Quilt Outlet/Boutique for fruit butters, preserves, syrups, ciders and honey. They also sell Virginia grown and/or made, peanuts, pickled products, BBQ sauces, apple chips, fudge and candies. The Quilt Outlet/Boutique carries one of the largest selection of quilts in the area.

Glassworks Gallery & Oldway Art Center and the Geneva Welch Gallery/Studio showcase the best local arts and crafts from the area.

See a live performance at Little Washington Theatre (shows postponed until further notice).

Relax and treat yourself at the Little Washington Wellness Spa. Adjacent to The Inn at Little Washington, Antiques at Middle Street is a conglomeration of beautiful and interesting finds in the world of collectibles.

Visit the Village of Flint Hill, listed on the National Register of Historic Places for some local dining treasures.
