Explore the far west territories of Virginia on a three-day “Western Front” LOVEwork road trip. This diverse topographic region features the beginning edge of the Cumberland Plateau as well as the western range of the Alleghenies. Resilient people settled here, and their Scotch Irish and German ancestors still live here today. Along with natives who have discovered these Southern Allegheny Mountains and plateau areas many year before, referring to them as “the hills and hollows”!

The LOVEwork in Russell County, designed and constructed by high school students at the local vocational technical school, highlights the historic location, and abundant wildlife in Russell County.
Enjoy an outdoor adventure on the Clinch River. Whether you're an adventurous kayaker or you just want to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing float down the river on a tube, Clinch River Adventures has something for everyone. Rent an ATV to ride the Mountain View Trail with Trailhead ATV Resort. Enjoy vistas, wildlife and endless miles of canopied forests throughout the remote, rugged terrain. Go for a hike at the Pinnacle Natural Area Preserve. Towering cliffs, sheer limestone ledges, and waterfalls are but a few of the spectacular features of this preserve.

LOVEwork at Poplar Gap Park
Located on the southern edge of the Cumberland Plateau, the unique LOVEwork at Poplar Gap is themed after the settlers who came to Buchannan County and the surrounding region living in log structures with tin roofs, the view from this LOVE works looks westward to Kentucky.
Explore the breathtaking mountain surroundings by ATV/OHV or mountain bike, or just kick back, relax and enjoy the view at Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure. Other fun for the whole family include archery tag, dodgeball meets archery using foam-tipped arrows, and snow tubing (seasonally as conditions permit). Enjoy a round of golf at Willow Brook Country Club.
Take a zipline over "Grand Canyon of the South" or enjoy the great outdoors while fishing, hiking, swimming, canoeing and more at Breaks Interstate Park. Rest up for another day of adventure at a local hotel, cabin or pitch a tent at the park.

Enjoy another day taking in the beauty and outdoor fun at Breaks Interstate Park. The LOVEwork at Breaks Interstate Park is located at the entrance and showcases the outdoor recreation, and wildlife; including elk which roam the region. Jaw dropping and breath taking vistas, and rock formations await you at this park shared by Virginia and Kentucky!
On your second day at Breaks, take a horseback ride, bike or paddle boat through the park. Elk viewing tours are also available. There is so much to do, there is no question that one day is just not enough!
