Thanksgiving in Virginia

Virginia Thanksgiving Festival at Berkeley Plantation
Virginia Thanksgiving Festival at Berkeley Plantation

Did you know the very first Thanksgiving took place in Virginia at the site of Berkeley Plantation? Each year visitors are invited to the festivities at the Virginia Thanksgiving Festival. George Washington is also known as the Father of Thanksgiving. As president, Washington issued a proclamation designating November 26, 1789 as a national day of thanksgiving.

Celebrate and give thanks in original fashion with these upcoming events.
