Luxury Travel Experiences

Virginia offers a distinct type of luxury, where breathtaking scenic byways provide your path to unique experiences, five-star resorts, spas and golf courses, leaving an unforgettable impression.  Come tour Virginia to realize the true meaning of one-of-a-kind luxury.

DAY ONE

Upon arrival at Washington Dulles International Airport, you will find yourself in Loudoun County. Known for its picturesque rolling hills, where horses roam and winding country roads guide you through the area known as DC’s Wine Country.

More than 50 award-winning wineries await with private tour companies set to ensure a relaxing day spent chauffeured through charming small towns and remarkable countryside, with stops to taste some of Virginia’s most lauded vintages.

Loudoun County also is famed horse and hunt country and sports a unique equine experience partnering horse and human.  Just one of many offerings at Salamander Middleburg’s Equestrian Center, you can explore the world of “horse whispering” first-hand, discovering new ways to communicate with man and beast.

Evening brings the chance to sample some of the area’s farm-to-table cuisine with dinner at the Restaurant at Patowmack Farm.  Housed in a glass conservatory overlooking the Potomac River, with crystal clear views of the night skies, it is referred to often as ‘a 1,000-star restaurant’ and the food is equally acclaimed.

Settle in at the Forbes Five-Star Salamander Middleburg and wind down the night relaxing by the outdoor firepits as fireflies dance through the country air.

DAY TWO

Start your day at Salamander Middleburg with the Ultimate Falconry Experience, where partnering with a raptor culminates with the thrill of calling one down to your gloved arm as if you were lifelong companions. Practice your marksmanship through one of the archery classes or partake in an exhilarating session of axe throwing.

Depart for Charlottesville, the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the way stop for lunch at The Inn at Little Washington to enjoy Patrick O’Connell’s inspired, Three-Star Michelin cuisine, described by critics as ‘so good it makes you cry.’

Soar to new heights as you witness breathtaking views of the famous Shenandoah with a Skyline Heli Helicopter Tour or onboard a deluxe hot-air balloon guided by local professionals.

Continue your trip on to Keswick Hall where a gourmet dinner at Marigold by Jean-Georges awaits.

DAY THREE

Keswick Hall Spa features the latest advances in wellness that when paired with the calming sights of the surrounding mountain vistas, make for a peaceful and rejuvenating beginning to your day.

Channel your inner sommelier by exploring the famous Monticello Wine Trail.  But take the less traveled and even more scenic route and visit a vineyard via a private guided horseback ride amongst the vines with Indian Summer Guide Service.  Or embrace a multifaceted experience at King Family Vineyards, where you can enjoy wine and delicious bites while also spectating an always entertaining polo match.  And no visit to Charlottesville is complete without a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Monticello, to discover why Thomas Jefferson is often called The Father of American Wine.

Make your way southwest through the mountains as you travel to Primland Resort, Auberge Resorts Collection. An evening arrival provides the perfect opportunity to experience their one-of-kind Observatory Tower and a truly mesmerizing look into our galaxy. Choose to retire for the night in the two-story Celestial Suite, directly below the Observatory Room, or perched high in the treetops overlooking the Dan River Gorge in one of Primland Resort’s iconic Tree Houses.

DAY FOUR

Showcasing breathtaking mountain views at every turn, The Highland Course at Primland melds seamlessly with the natural landscape to offer players of all skill levels a one-of-a-kind golfing challenge.  Those not inspired by the club can partake of the mountain views via yoga class or an all-terrain vehicle excursion.  And the spa beckons all those who simply wish to relax.

Bid farewell to the Blue Ridge Mountains as you travel down from the cliffs to the coast where sandy beaches overlook the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean.

A trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to Virginia’s Eastern Shore allows for a singular expedition - kayaking across oyster beds in the Bay to a water-side winery.  Or kayak among the dolphins for an up-close-and-personal experience with some of the area’s well-known locals.

When it’s time to rest, Virginia Beach is home to The Historic Cavalier Resort and Beach Club, where U.S. presidents and celebrities have stayed and played for nearly 100 years.

DAY FIVE

Indulge in garden-inspired dishes at The Cavalier’s signature restaurant, Becca, while you plan your day.

Transcend the conventional and embrace a soaring perspective of this coastal haven and take to the skies from the Military Aviation Museum as you journey aboard the historic 1941 Boeing Stearman. Complete with goggles, helmet, and an open cockpit, this aerial odyssey offers a spectacular bird's-eye view as it transports you to a bygone era with one of Virginia Beach's most extraordinary and thrilling experiences.

Settle down on land with a picturesque horseback ride along the expansive sandy beaches ending with a quaint beachside picnic courtesy of The VB Picnic Co.

Take part in a culinary experience you won’t soon forget with a Chef’s Table Tour at Pleasure House Oysters. Experience the purest form of farm-to-table dining as you stand knee-deep in the Lynnhaven River, where a table is elegantly arranged right in the water at the oyster farm.

Cap off your trip with a relaxed evening of refined Asian-fusion cuisine, expertly served at the chic Orion's Rooftop, offering sweeping panoramic vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. End with a nightcap at The Historic Cavalier’s Tarnished Truth Distillery Company, the Nation’s first in-hotel distillery.
